Modelling and Testing the Stability of Edge Segments: Length and Orientation
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper derives a model for the variance in the length and orientation of edge segments extracted from an image. It is assumed that edge pixel positions are subject to noise. The eeect of this positional uncertainty is propagated all the way to segment length and orientation. The model predicts an approximately constant variance in segment length, whereas the variance in segment orientation decreases with increased segment length. The theoretical model is veriied by experiments on real images and it is shown that segment orientation is more stable (has higher signal to noise ratio) than length for segments longer than 1/10 of the image size.

Edge Crack Studies in Rotating FGM Disks
This article focused on the stress analysis of an edge crack in a thin hallow rotating functionally graded material (FGM) disk. The disk is assumed to be isotropic with exponentially varying elastic modulus in the radial direction. A comprehensive study is carried out for various combinations of the crack length and orientation with the different gradation of materials. The effect of non-unifor...
متن کاملNonlocal Effect on Buckling of Triangular Nano-composite Plates
In the present study, small scale effect on critical buckling loads of triangular nano- composite plates under uniform in-plane compression is studied. Since at nano-scale the structure of the plate is discrete, the size dependent nonlocal elasticity theory is employed to develop an equivalent continuum plate model for this nanostructure incorporating the changes in its mechanical behavior. The...

A complete investigation on the free vibration and stability analysis of beams made of functionally graded materials (FGMs) containing open edge cracks utilizing four beam theories, Euler-Bernoulli, Rayleigh, shear and Timoshenko, is performed in this research. It is assumed that the material properties vary along the beam thickness exponentially and the cracked beam is modeled as two segments ...
